People Really, Really Want a Menurkey
Ambitious $25,000 Kickstarter project is 93 percent funded after one week
A Thanksgiving miracle, indeed. Last week we brought you news of an unlikely holiday accessory: the Menurkey, a turkey-shaped menorah to celebrate the even more unlikely overlap between Thanksgiving and Hanukkah this year—Thanksgivukkah, if you will. It was designed by nine-year-old Asher Weintraub and needed a whopping $25,000, via Kickstarter, to make it a reality.
Now, eight days and 348 backers later, the Kickstarter campaign is 93 percent funded. You heard that right: backers have pledged $23,263 of the $25,000 goal (the campaign deadline is Sept. 12), and it’s beginning to look a lot like Menurkey season.
Bravo, Weintraubs. I can see the college application essay already…
