An article in this morning’s New York Times speculated about a possible second act for Anthony Weiner, the (sort of) disgraced former congressman and erstwhile rising political star.
The New York Post is now reporting that Weiner is considering a run for mayor or public advocate, however, a source close to City Hall told The Scroll that he will most likely pursue public advocate in 2013 to pave the way for a mayoral run in 2017 (assuming he wins at all). Weiner, 47, who is sitting on a $4.5 million war chest for campaign, has up to $1.5 million in public matching federal funds set to expire at the end of 2013.
