If, today in Tablet Magazine, Man Booker Prize winner Howard Jacobson penned an essay on singing Dayenu, it would have sufficed.

If it was a thoughtful meditation on language and Jewish history and gratitude, it would have been enough.

If it was a hilarious foray into Jewish humor, self-deprecation and, well, ingratitude, we’d be pleased as punch.

As it happens, Jacobson’s essay is all of those things. But if you’re someone for whom enough is never enough be sure to revisit Jacobson’s profile of ping-pong great Marty Reisman and our 2010 conversation with the author conducted on the very day he won the Booker Prize for The Finkler Question.
