The BBC series Downton Abbey, currently having its second season aired on PBS, has become something of a sensation, at least for its scale. Today in Tablet Magazine, Amanda Walgrove explains what its pre-World War One English nobility have in common with contemporaneous Eastern European Jews, and shows that Downton Abbey is really just another Fiddler on the Roof (and similarly awesome).
