• Secretary of State Clinton called Newt Gingrich’s remarks about the “invented” Palestinian people “unhelpful,” which, given that he is currently contesting the Republican primary, might have been a nice Hanukkah present. [JTA]

• But it wasn’t the best Hanukkah present Newt got: Sheldon Adelson donated $20 million (!) to a pro-Gingrich outside group. [Politico]

• The Great Photographers’ Caper, in Israel! [NYT]

• R.I.P. Paula Hyman, cutting-edge feminist. [Mark Oppenheimer]

• Dennis Ross seemed to suggest that the prime cause of the peace process impasse is President Abbas’ a priori refusal to deal with Prime Minister Netanyahu. [WP Post Partisan]

The Farrelly Brothers are coming out with a movie about the Three Stooges, and a YouTube commenter puts it best: “What’s with the nuns? The Three Stooges were Jewish.”
