Today in Tablet Magazine, Mideast columnist Lee Smith zeroes in on Qatar, which in part through the powerful television network Al Jazeera (based there and funded by a Qatari emir) as well as its hosting U.S. Central Command, has been projecting its power during the Arab Spring, essentially picking winners (the Bahraini and Saudi monarchs) and losers (the dictators of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and perhaps Syria). So why is Israel picking a fight with it?
