Each Monday, we choose the most interestingly Jewish announcement from that Sunday’s New York Times Weddings/Celebrations section. This week, it’s that of Geri Armine-Klein and Cynthia Armine-Klein, who, as though in demonstration of just how overdue same-sex marriage in New York had been, had legally altered their last names to make them common more than a decade ago. Certainly they long had all the trappings of a New York City power couple: Geri was a New York City Environmental Protection attorney and is now on the Brooklyn Ballet board; Cynthia is an executive VP at JPMorgan Chase, which recently poached her from Citigroup, and is on the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network board. The two were married yesterday at Brooklyn Heights Synagogue (which is, the Times reports, “in Brooklyn”). Mazel tov to the happy couple!
