Each Monday, we choose the most interestingly Jewish Weddings/Celebrations announcement in the New York Times. This week, this was difficult. Nigerian-Jewish nuptials! Son of a Super Bowl-winning player! “D. Stephen Henriques, the spiritual leader of the Jewish community in Jamaica, officiated.” A Yiddish actress! In any other week, any one of these would be our winner.

However, this week, Shoshana Stein and Shmuly Yanklowitz were married by the famed Rabbi Avi Weiss. The groom is also a New York rabbi, albeit from Chicago by way of Texas (hook ’em!), as well as “the founder and president of Uri L’Tzedek, an Orthodox Jewish educational and leadership development organization in Manhattan that also advocates for workers’ rights and other issues.” The bride, meanwhile, is a nurse practitioner who graduated from Yeshiva U. and Columbia. I am helpless before that onslaught. Mazel tov to the happy couple!
