I wrote today in Tablet Magazine about the sports-geek culture crystallized every year at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. While there are some crucial non-Jewish actors in the mainstreaming of advanced sports analytics, the majority, from Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to football statistician Aaron Schatz to innumerable folk throughout the sports world, are Members of the Tribe. I look at why, and also at why NFL coaches should all have at least one teenager on staff.
