Jon Stewart and I have had our differences. But when he decides to actually take a position—as here, on Glenn Beck’s documentary about George Soros—he does himself proud, and is funny as hell.

Tablet is committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing on Jewish life, all free of charge. We take pride in our community of readers, and are thrilled that you choose to engage with us in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse). Starting today, then, we are asking people who'd like to post comments on the site to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping us bring you the ambitious journalism that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with us free of charge via Facebook, Twitter, and our other social media channels, or write to us at Each week, we’ll select the best letters and publish them in a new letters to the editor feature on the Scroll.

We hope this new largely symbolic measure will help us create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all of our readers, and, as always, we thank you deeply for your support.

Frayed Knot says:

Yes, yes, we get already, Marc – you have a perpetual hard-on for George Soros. Please stop poking it with us already.

Frayed Knot says:

I mean stop poking us with it.

Bah, what a way to ruin a comment.

Yes,let’s all get over it !

Jews are God’s Chosen & can do no wrong.

And they’ll call an air strike on anyone who disagrees with them

Forget that the Islamic World has promised to drive them into the Sea! Forget that millions of them were roasted in an oven -wait,no, that never happened !

Well I guess being driven into the sea is reason enough !

Perhaps one greedy, graspng, evil Jew should be overlooked!

After all, we overlooked one power-hungry greedy, evil German, strike that, he was Austrian !

Stewart derides Beck’s attack on Soros as silly and overblown. You, on the other hand, have 8 or 9 times repeatedly referred to Beck’s piece, or referred to others referring to it, as anti-Semitic. Without once explaining what is anti-Semitic about it, other than that Soros is Jewish. As far as I know, we are all still waiting for an explanation of your position.
