Yesterday, Abraham Foxman, the national leader of the Anti-Defamation League, announced that he would be stepping down from his position after 27 years at the helm of the ADL, and nearly five decades with the organization. The move will doubtless evoke numerous learned retrospectives on Foxman’s legacy. But we can’t think of a better way to celebrate his remarkable career than with this never-before-seen footage of Foxman performing Billy Joel’s “For the Longest Time” with the Maccabeats. Smuggled out of the ADL’s centennial celebration this past October, it is presented here for the first time.

The clip raises all sorts of interesting questions, chief among them whether Foxman is leaving the ADL to launch a solo career. But in any case, there is probably no better song with which to serenade Foxman off the national Jewish stage.
