The saga of Anthony Weiner isn’t over, sadly. Today the disgraced former congressman-turned mayoral hopeful admitted to sending explicit messages to women six months after he resigned from Congress, the New York Post reports.

“I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress,” Weiner said in a statement.

The admission was prompted by alleged exchanges between Weiner and a 22-year-old woman, published by TheDirty.com. On that forum, Weiner reportedly used the pseudonym Carlos Danger.

UPDATE: At a press conference this evening, Weiner announced he would remain in the mayoral race, admitting to indiscretions beyond what was already made public back in 2011. He said he and his wife, Huma Abedin, were prepared for more photos and exchanges to emerge after he announced his campaign. Abedin also addressed the crowd, saying, “Anthony’s made some horrible mistakes, before and after his resignation.” Still, she stood firmly by her husband’s side (admitting she was nervous speaking at her first press conference), adding, “I love him, I have forgiven him, I believe in him, and as we have said from the beginning, we’re moving forward.”

Looks like his mayoral bid is, too.
