Are you a New York based college student deeply interested in taking ideas seriously? We have just the opportunity for you.

The Herzl Society: A New Conversation on Zionism’s Past and Future is a new project run by Tablet Magazine with the goal of sparking conversation and meaningful debate among a selected group of New York City college students about the history and possible futures of Zionism.

We’re looking for intellectually curious undergraduates who will be juniors or seniors in September of this year. Through four interactive seminars over the course of the year, students will learn about Zionism’s foundations, successes, and challenges. Confirmed speakers include Leon Wieseltier, Literary Editor of The New Republic; Moshe Halbertal, Senior Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute and Professor of Jewish Thought and Philosophy at Hebrew University; Benny Morris, Professor of History at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and more.

No expertise, extensive involvement in Jewish organizations, etc. are necessary. We’re looking for people who are passionate about ideas and about this subject.

To apply, email [email protected]. Kindly tell us your school and year, and briefly answer the following question: What does Zionism mean to you? (750 words maximum). Application deadline is June 1.
