Last month, we kvelled at the news that Tablet contributor and New Republic behemoth Leon Wieseltier scored a half million dollar prize for his contributions to humanity and humanities. Today, we’re celebrating Nextbook author Adina Hoffman, who co-wrote the critically acclaimed book Sacred Trash about the Cairo Geniza with Peter Cole.

Hoffman has just been given one of the inaugural Windham Campbell Awards, which, in addition to possibly being the WASPiest-sounding honor ever, comes with a hefty prize.

Nine prizes of $150,000 each are to be awarded to James Salter, Zoë Wicomb and Tom McCarthy in fiction; Jonny Steinberg, Adina Hoffman and Jeremy Scahill in nonfiction; and Naomi Wallace, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Tarell Alvin McCraney in drama.

The award claims to honor writers at all different stages in their writing careers. But if that were true, what about the bloggers?
